Few things are more convenient than being able to seamlessly schedule a patient via the world wide web.
In fact, some of our referring doctors refuse to schedule their patients any other way! If you aren't already using our online portal, we think you'll love it! Around this time last year, we sent out step-by-step instructions on how to schedule your patients online. CLICK HERE to read the instructions and let us know if you have any questions. If online scheduling isn't your cup of tea, you are always welcome to call the office and schedule your patient's visit. We can always be reached by phone at (205) 943-4600. If you have questions about online scheduling, please give us a call! 2/21/2018 0 Comments Your Rare Disease Day Primer! We have seen huge progress over the last several years with both genetic testing and treatment of rare diseases.
As the medical community continues facing some of its greatest challenges, it is more important than ever that we continue to spread awareness of rare diseases and the advancements taking place. The last day of February each year is set aside and recognized as Rare Disease Day. As next Wednesday, February 28th, approaches, we wanted to send over a few resources that can be used to better educate both your staff and patients. 2/19/2018 0 Comments What's New at VisionAmericaAs we begin 2018, we wanted to recap what was an exciting year at VisonAmerica.
Although it would be impossible to touch on everything that happened in the last 365 days, we wanted to at least throw out a few highlights. We are thankful for both your partnership and the continual trust you place in us to care for your patients. By Trenton Cleghern, OD, FAAO I'm sure we can all remember counting the days to Christmas as a child. We would get out of school for a few weeks and, if we were lucky, get a few good gifts. As adults, things are a bit different. We simply want to escape the office for a few days and enjoy time with friends and family. Few things can be more deflating than some sort of medical problem right before the holidays. Unfortunately, these types of situations happen more often than you would think. As the Christmas holidays approached this past December, an 81-year-old Caucasian female was referred to our office after noticing a "red spot" in her eye and experiencing blurred vision. VisionAmerica's Dr. Trenton Cleghern walks us through the details in our most recent case study. 2/12/2018 0 Comments A Patient's Thoughts on LASIKEven though it was developed in the 1980s and given FDA approval in 1995, LASIK is still the standard for refractive surgery.
As one of the state's leading LASIK providers, we are always curious to hear what our patients think and say both before and after the procedure. (As you will see below, the responses can be pretty entertaining.) We sat down with Julie Tucker for a quick Q&A about her experience with LASIK and VisionAmerica and wanted to share it with you all. We hope you enjoy the read! If you do, please feel free to share it with your patients! 2/7/2018 0 Comments Managing Corneal UlcersWe've all seen them. That patient comes in with their head down and holding their hand over their eye trying to avoid any ray of light. When asked about contact lens wear, they swear they take them out and use fresh solution every night. (To which you want to reply "Liar, Liar".) According to a 2010 CDC report, an estimated 930,000 doctor's office and outpatient clinic visits and 58,000 emergency department visits for keratitis or contact lens disorders occur annually with an estimated direct health care cost of $175 million. We recently sat down with Dr. Matthew Albright, VisionAmerica of Birmingham's corneal specialist to discuss the management of corneal ulcers. If you are a sports fan, you have probably already read the recent ESPN article titled "Hot dog! Falcons drop prices, make more money".
If you haven't, allow us to set the stage. Arthur Blank, the owner of the National Football League's Atlanta Falcons, is the co-founder of the Home Depot and is worth approximately $2.1 billion. Yeah, the man knows business. It is also safe to say that Mr. Blank believes in good infrastructure. |
