1/17/2019 1 Comment Striving for Perfection - Part 1Vince Lombardi is known for many quotes. One of my favorites is, "There's no such thing as perfection. But in striving for perfection, we can achieve excellence."
That is always our goal with regard to our patient experience which includes our clinical and surgical outcomes. As technology continues to advance, so does our ability to strive toward perfection. One of our recent advances in the realm of cataract surgery here in our Birmingham office is the IOL Master 700 by Zeiss. Have you ever had that patient undergo cataract surgery with the expectation of emmetropia to only be left with 0.75D of cylinder and is frustrated? What about those early adopters in the corneal refractive surgery market, either RK or LASIK, who still expect to end up plano?

January 6-12th was a tough week for football in Alabama.
Former Auburn Tigers kicker, Cody Parkey, made headlines as he missed the field goal that would have won the game for his Chicago Bears against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, January 6th, and the Alabama Crimson Tide fell to the Clemson Tigers in the National Championship game on Monday, January 7th. For those involved (and even for some on their couches), these moments were heartbreaking. But what stood out most to us in the midst of these two events is how those involved, specifically Nick Saban and Parkey, responded to failure. Saban, who is widely considered to be one of the greatest college football coaches of all time, fell short of winning his seventh national championship. For a coach who has experienced so much success, many might expect his reaction to failure to be a bit more dramatic. 1/9/2019 0 Comments January Photo of the monthFundus autofluorescence (FAF) imaging of optic disc drusen.
1/2/2019 0 Comments New Year. New Office? It's that time again. With every new year comes change! Well, sort of...
Statistics show that about 40% of Americans make New Year's resolutions each year and that a paltry 46% of us have stuck to them by the time the calendar rolls over to June. No, we aren't making any New Year's resolutions in this post, but we are making changes! |
